This wedding photo shoot was extra special to me, because it is of my sister and her new husband! It was also extra special because our entire family was there to enjoy watching her get married and also being with each other! We all really enjoyed our time and her wedding was beautiful! It was held at La Connor Flats, Washington, on August 13, 2011. I was very touched and honored that my sis asked me to take her photos!

Pam was a winner of a photo shoot giveaway I did several months ago. I'm so glad we had the chance to finally do the photo shoot! She's amazing and it was wonderful meeting her daughter Samantha. I love how they both came in matching outfits. This was a great mother/daughter photo shoot! Pam also seems to amaze me. She is a wonderful chef/cook/baker, is a great mom to her kids, has farm animals and gets involved in the county fair, and is so involved in the community, such as doing Relay for Life fundraisers and cook offs! She's also a hard worker at her job. She is such an amazing woman and inspires me to do more!

I love the tiny dog Cricket, except that I kept wanting to call it Grass Hopper! The dogs also really wanted to jump into the lake, which was really entertaining!

It's been beautiful here on the coast! We are sure loving the weather and very thankful to not have 3 digit temperatures like the rest of the country. Here's some pictures I took before I did a mother/daughter photo shoot. I love playing with texture. It is one of my favorite things to add to any photo with nature or landscape backgrounds. I really enjoyed taking pictures of this one bird that kept flying back and forth from one tree to another, as if it were showing off and wanting me to take it's photos.

Last Saturday, was a very sad day for this family, as they lost a special loved one in their lives. I did know this special person and he will really be missed, especially in our ward at church.

I had the privilege to capture this family's photos after the service. They are so beautiful and I wish them peace, love, and happiness within their lives, and I wish them well at this time.

My husband and I had the opportunity to go watch Shanghaid in Astoria. It was very entertaining. I had the chance to practice taking photos in the dark. I love how the spot light captured everyone and how I was able to take the photos the way I saw them through my camera. I usually have a difficult time taking photos in the dark, but it all worked out great.

This is a week late, but wanted to post some great photos I took on the 4th of July. Thank you to Amanda from kevinandamanda.com for giving out a tip on Facebook to take great photos of fireworks at night! It came in handy! If you want that tip, it is: Set your aperture all the way to BULB, then set it to F22, and snap away. That simple!

I took the image into Lightroom 3 and adjusted the exposure and contrast. I also played with the lighting on the flower in her hair.

I then took the image and used Florabella Luxe II actions in PS Cs5. I added some texture as well. I then took the images and processed them in picnik.com,, fixed the sharpness, added some rosy cheeks, brighter eyes, black and white, and contrast.

Now that I'm settling into our new place, I can finally sit down and have some editing fun!

I love the image this week, especially with the Red Riding Hood theme. I used Florabella Actions, Luxe II, LOVE, cropped it, and then I took the image into picnik.com. Picnik allowed me to make the image pop more by giving it more of a brighter effect and contrast.

Before and After, Editing in Photoshop CS5

I am learning how to use Photoshop CS5. I'm so use to using picnik and Lightroom 3. Tell you the truth, I'm really intimidated by CS5 and Photoshop itself. There seems to be so much to learn. I'm glad I spent a good hour or so learning how to edit one photo tonight and I'm really happy with the result. I also enjoyed the tutorials from the sites I follow. I am glad I'm taking some time to learn the programs, especially before my sister's big wedding day in August. I have got to get it right!

Here's a before, using Lightroom 3 and picnik.com. It's a little soft, which I do like.

After, with Photoshop CS5. I gave it some extra pop of color and sharpened up the image, which I LOVE!
I'm still learning all about the tools, brushes, adjustments, layers, and learning to work with the opacity in actions. When I first started using the program and used actions, I was not liking the results until I learned that the opacity is what makes the difference! Duh! :) I also love the bokeh in this image!

Birds in Trees

I was able to catch hundreds of birds high up in the trees from our place yesterday. They were extremely loud and drew my attention to them. I found it fascinating to see them fly out of the tree at the same time, then fly back into the tree in unison. It's amazing how birds follow each other, especially those same birds who form a "V" in the sky.

Missing the Sunshine

I was a little bored tonight and was looking through some older photos. I enjoy editing what I can, especially on a rainy day. These photos made me drool over the sunshine that were in them, especially the fact that they were during the summer. We sure had a great summer that year and enjoyed doing so many things outdoors. I don't know about you, but I miss the sun. So, since it's not sunny out, I decided to edit these in a brown preset tone.

I'm learning all the really great tools in Adobe Lightroom 3. So far, I'm really loving it! :) I love all the presets and the fun presets I can get online just for this program!

I did some edits on one of my sister's engagement photos I took of her earlier in the Fall! They are such a cute couple and I'm looking forward to their wedding day!
